Co-Sponsorship

All SOTG training events are co-sponsored. Co-sponsors are usually organizations that are interested in having training events brought to their agency, their community or region. Co-sponsors will often have contact with people who are interested in attending: employees in human services agencies, board members, people who use services and family members, policy makers, and others.

Co-sponsors provide support for the event in a variety of ways, which may include any or all of the following: finding a suitable location for the training, providing support around advertising and local promotion of the event, handling registration, arranging meals and accommodation, if needed. All workshop costs are covered by the SOTG. The first step in exploring co-sponsorship would be to have a discussion with any of the members of the SOTG to discuss interests.

The Southern Ontario Training Group (SOTG) recognizes that we live, learn and teach on land that has long been the traditional territories of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, the Cree and the Wendat peoples.

We commit to increasing awareness and understanding of our shared history, to acknowledging injustices of the past, and to working towards a more just shared future.

The SOTG endeavours to stand alongside people who are devalued by our society, including those discriminated against because of their heritage or cultural identity. We believe that Social Role Valorization offers a means of understanding devaluation and helpful strategies to address it.
