Leadership

Because we are so convinced of the value of SRV theory, we want to ensure that people continue to have the opportunity to learn about it in the best possible way. Thus central to the mission of the SOTG is ensuring that there are people in our communities with a deep understanding of SRV theory and the capacity to share that knowledge with others. To this end, the SOTG engages in a lengthy and systematic leadership development process through which people can gain the knowledge and skills required to teach SRV theory and, ultimately, to train others to teach it - and then to train others to teach it, in a never ending process which allows for the continual development of new SRV teachers and trainers. In addition, some people seek out advanced knowledge of SRV in order to be able to fill leadership roles in the implementation of SRV.

The Southern Ontario Training Group (SOTG) recognizes that we live, learn and teach on land that has long been the traditional territories of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, the Cree and the Wendat peoples.

We commit to increasing awareness and understanding of our shared history, to acknowledging injustices of the past, and to working towards a more just shared future.

The SOTG endeavours to stand alongside people who are devalued by our society, including those discriminated against because of their heritage or cultural identity. We believe that Social Role Valorization offers a means of understanding devaluation and helpful strategies to address it.
